Just a quick note: my favourite (and local) bookstore Better Read Than Dead are sponsoring the Sydney Children’s Festival at CarriageWorks, which runs from September 27th – October 9th.

They say some of their favourite children’s authors (and characters!) are hosting events at the festival, such as readings from Craig Smith, author of much-loved book and cd The Wonky Donky, and Emma Quay, author of Bear and Chook by the Sea, which won the prestigious Children’s Book Council Award this year.

Grug, will be appearing in a live show, and Oliver Phommavanh, comedian and author of Thai-riffic will be inspiring budding writers with his speech on how authors get their ideas.

Claire Craig, author of the Harriet Bright books will be running poetry workshops for anyone who knows words and owns a brain, and Aleesah Darlison, author of Totally Twins will engage  in an interesting conversation about animals and “puggles”. That’s just for starters!

Check out the full program at the festival website, and swing by their facebook page as well.

Don’t forget to come and visit Better Read Than Dead, your friendly booksellers, at the festival at CarriageWorks!

The Better Read Than Dead stall will stock plenty of titles from the festival’s featured authors, as well as other popular kids’ books.
